“Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” – anonymous
I’m sure that quote has an author, I just don’t know who it is. It’s an amazing thing to have a career that you love and that people respond to enough to keep you in business! This is some experimentation and playing that a recent client allowed me to do. It was a glamour session but she trusted me when I said, “would you be interested in letting me try something new?”
I had done this technique a couple times with Maternity clients recently and loved the results and I wanted to see what I could do with a subject that had more range of motion and balance. When I asked this client if she ever danced (ballet) she said it had been a while but I think the images show that she still has that sense of grace and elegance!
I had been inspired by a photographer whose work I found on www.Flickr.com named Alberich Matthews, but unfortunately I don’t actually have a black pool to photograph in so Photoshop became my underwater set. Some photographer friends also showed me the work of Howard Schatz who does amazing underwater work as well. Once I saw his book, “H2O” I went right home and ordered it.
Here’s my first attempt with a maternity client that worked out so well:
I love my clients for allowing me to make art for a living!
